I recently entered into a verbal contract with a gentleman to buy a house boat. i left a $1500 deposit towards the boat,I labled it as a deposit on the bottom of the check and left. The purchase of the boat was contingent upon the sale of my boat at a said price Which did not happen, I backed out and now the guy refuses to give me my deposit back. Is this right ?

You shouldn't get the boat anyway. Here's why.

Ollie and Lena joke.

Ollie dies.
Lena has to put an obituary in the newspaper so she calls the newspaper guy and asks about the cost.
The newspaper guy says the cost is $5.00 a word.
Lena pauses, then the guy asks what she'd like the obituary to say.
Lena replies: Just write "Ollie died"
Newspaper guy, a little puzzled, asks is that all you're going to write?
Lena replies: Dat's all I can affod, yah know.
So the newspaper guy thinks for awhile and says, o.k. I'll tell yah what. I'll give yah a deal. How bout $2.00 a word.
Lena pauses again to think about it and finally she says o.k. say "Ollie died, boat fir sale."
