This comes from Georgia.
On 6/18/2001 I had some emergency repairs totaling $370.00 done to the roof of my house due to a tree falling on the roof. I gave the roofer all the needed information of who to contact at my insurance company and he turned in a claim for the $370.00. I have since caught this roofer in several lies about the estimate to do a permenant repair and he has failed to give the insurance co. the info they need to process the claim on the permenant repairs. Last Fri. I called him and told him that I had decided to let another roofer do the repairs but my insurance would pay for his work he had already done. On 7/16/2001 I got a call from roofer #1 stating that I had until 6p.m. on 7/17/2001 to pay him in full ($370.00) or he was going to take a lien on my home. I had not received a bill from him until he came by my house Mon. afternoon about 5:30. He claimed that he dropped the bill off at the insurance co. and asked them to send it to me. I immediately asked him if they did his book keeping and he got p.o.ed and stated that he wanted his money now. I went ahead and paid him since the insurance co, told me earlier that they have mailed me a check for this ammount. My question is this, has he done anything I can take legal action against him for and reasonably hope to get any damages for?

Though it was an interesting post and I may not agree with the roofers tactics, it doesn't really sound like he did anything illegal.

Also, since you paid him for his services, and the insurance company is reimbursing you, it doesn't sound as if you have been damaged.

I would consider yourself lucky that you didn't have any further dealings with him and move on with your life.
