I filed for chapter 7 on 1/21/05. In December I canceled my auto withdraw from SST, a lending company that works with E-loan . On Jan 25, they took a direct payment out, after I canceled with them and was told it was taken care of.

I called SST on Jan. 27 and they said it was their mistake and they would take care of it. I filed a dispute with my bank, but that will take some time as well. When I called SST, the woman handling my case said it was sitting on her supervisor's desk and it was a priority. That was a week ago.

Should I just let the bank dispute it, or can I get this matter resolved quicker somehow? I need to pay my electricity & phone bills soon.

sounds like your bank's glitch

sounds to me it's a problem with your bank, not your lender. Your bank did not properly cancel the direct debit, and that is not your lender's fault.

have u got the name of the person u phoned first at your bank asking to cancel the direct debit? Most probably she was very junior and did something wrong - so it stayed there. Anyway, I am sure your bank will have to sort it out in your favour.
