I'm writing on behalf of a friend, who used to be an employee of a large national company in Missouri for almost 10 years. During her employment she purchased additional disability insurance, this was back in 1996. Subsequently, she was diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis. She was instructed by her doctors to quit her job two years before she finally did. She has had 3 back surgeries to ease her pain, none of them successful. She is currently using two canes to walk and also a wheelchair. She takes morphin every 4 hours. She can not sit or stand for long and sometimes short periods of time. She only gets relief if she lays down, almost in the fetal position. She was receiving Disability Benefits from Prudential then they decided in February that she was not disabled and that she could work as a office clerk and therefore cut off her benefits. There is no way she can work. What does she need to do to prove that she is disabled. She has 3 separate letters from 3 different doctors stating she is permanately disabled and cannot return to work. The insurance company is ignoring those letters.
Please help. Thank you.
