Disability benefits while working

What is the name of your state? Texas
What could be the legal reprecusions, if a person that is receiving disablility benefits works without notifying the Social Security office.
This person has worked for 7 months in a job where no physical activity is required. The job where that caused the disability dealt with physical activity. Will the person have to pay back the benefits received during those 7 months after notifying the Social Security of this new employment?
I will appreciate your response.

It depends on how much they have made . SS does have a back to work program .
If The worker is on a payroll , SS will find it , so it's best to contact them first .

You don't say if it's SSI , SSDI , or retirement benifits , or how much the person eraned/earns per month .

The earnings are 1800 per month and it is disability payments what is being received, the same as medicare. Did not qualify for SSI. What is the best way to let the SS office know of the employmet. By letter, she will prefer not to go into the office. Is that possible?

She should call the SSA toll free 800 number . They will instruct as to what to do , what the recipient may be entiled to , or not .

Should she contact an lawyer before she makes the call? What are the rights she is entitled to? Will they ask the name of the company she works for?

I can't advise on that , but SSA does have a ticket to work program .

Social Security work incentives at a glance

Trial work period_ The trial work period allows you to test your ability to work for at least nine months. During your trial work period you will receive your full Social Security benefits regardless of how much you are earning as long as you report your work activity and you continue to have a disabling impairment. In 2006, a trial work month is any month in which your total earnings are $620 or more, or, if you are self-employed, you earn more than $620 (after expenses) or spend more than 80 hours in your own business. The trial work period continues until you have worked nine months within a 60-month period.

I beleive She would have 9 months , according to the site .

As I said SSA will detect it sooner or later , so better to call NOW .
