thank you for the reply to my original question. the carrier of my disability insurance with my former employer is Met Life. i did contact my lawyer who represented me in the personal injury case and am sending him the entire file. he also represented me in the mediation with AIG re: the worker's comp. case. i have no problem with AIG. he is willing to look into the matter and advise me of my options. your advice is appreciated, and if my attorney is not able to pursue the case i will contact your group for reference to an attorney who specializes in these type cases.

My experience with MetLife, unlike AIG, is that MetLife has been a very honorable company in terms of paying claims.

However, sometimes they are not the insurer but administrator of a large employer operated group. And with any employer operated group -- insured or self-insured (as large groups are often "experience rated")companies pay attention to the demands of the large employer.

But have the lawyer look at the PENSION PLAN, that is where the money is.
