What is the name of your state? Georgia

A family member passed away recently. One of the beneficiaries due to collect on the insurance is receiving disability benefits from the government.

I know with SSI you can not have money and keep the benefit. If someone collects a large sum of money and is on disability, can they lose their benefit?

Thanks.

The SSA site has this particular question addressed. The answer, if I understood it correctly, is 'no', disability benefits are not affected by inheritance income; disability benefits are affected by earned income.

SSI benefits, which are based on total financial need and are supplemental to SS disability benefits, could be reduced or ceased when the person no longer meets the 'poverty' guidelines due to improved financial status.
