i was married in florida just over 9 years ago, and I became disabled in 1994, getting ss benefits since. My name is on the house and property, and thru monetary gifts of 25,000 since 1991 and 28 months back ss pay and ssi received in 1996. there is approximately 10,500 paid into down payment on last and current home (upgraded to double wide home in 1997). what I need to know is that my husband has supported me ever since I was disabled, and he is trying to make me leave the house- he is even threatning forced removal to get me out. can I force him to sell house and property, splitting the assets? or, make him buy out my share of the house and land, even though I cannot pay on bills? he wants to put house in children's names so that it cannot be sold. i feel he is being unfair, as i am having to look at government housing just to have a place to live. and apply for food stamps so i can eat. not to mention the medical costs from me being chronically ill, and the future loss of medical benefits. please help me!
