What is the name of your state? Ohio

Hello friends,
I recently went through a divorce which ended December 15, 2006 and I am the custodial parent of my 3 year old daughter. She was born premature and weighed 1 pound 11.5 ounces. She has had heart surgery, 2 brain surgeries, she is due for another brain surgery in approx. 6 months, diagnosed with cerebral palsey, has a shunt (drain tube) in her brain which will be there for the rest of her life and has 5 siezures minimum each and every day. Currently, she is on medicaid which has paid for all of her multiple doctors caring for her, medical procedures, siezure medications, 6 therapies per week, etc.. Unexpectedly, I got a call from medicaid Friday morning and the lady proceeded to tell me that they were taking this card away from my daughter because since the divorce, we have 1 less person in our apartment now. The income level hasn't changed because my ex had refused to go back to work even on my days off while I care for our daughter. I work at a Wal-Mart distribution center. I'm not rich! My rent hasn't decreased, my water bill hasn't decreased, my car payment hasn't decreased, etc.. I can't understand this! What they said they are going to switch her to is called a "Medicaid Disability Card". NOW LISTEN TO THIS**************...The catch is that I will have to pay them $1107.00 each and every month before they will release that card to us and then once the month is over, the card goes back to them (per month). You heard it right, $1107.00 each and every month. Very few people that I know can afford that! So, basically, she will be getting NO help! Please, any advice or knowledge will be sincerely appreciated. THANK YOU.

I haven't got any solid answers for you , but since no one has replied so far , I'd suggest calling your local congress person's office , and ask around about any programs that might be available to you for assistances .

Many State's have special programs for the needy .

Thank you Blonde Lebinese

Call the State Senate -- they cover medicaid. Medicaid is a state benefit not federal so action can be taken there. I know of a few senators that are very helpful but they are in the north eastern portion of the state.

You can try this:

I also have a disabled daughter that was a preemy, had double open heart surgery, stomach surgery, no immune system for the first six years and three back surgeries.
With no insurance it destroyed us.
With the income we had we could not get any type of assistance, Finaly one of our local politicians told me to apply for a program called CAP/MR, it is supposed to be a national program that does not pertain to your income, but the needs of your child.
There are some downsides with this program but it gives you her medicade card, and anything of special needs for her.
Look into it online.
Hope this helps you, And best of luck with your daughter.
