:) According to PACER, I was discharged today....I am extremely happy and hope never to be in this situation again..

For those who are still waiting, my 341 was on 4/29 so it took almost three months.

I will continue here and hope to be able to help someone as I was helped by all you nice ladies and gentlemen.

Blessings,

Magdalena

Discharged Today

Hi,
I discharged almost $19,000....and I did have a lawyer...He charged $1,000 + the $209.00 filing fee.
I am glad it is over..

It ALWAYS takes 3 months, 4 if you count the intial filing date.
You file. 30 days later (or close to it), you have your 341 meeting. You wait out the 60-day objection period. If there are no objections, your are discharged.

No surprises, nothing out of the ordinary, that's just the way it works for most Ch 7's.

I discharged almost $19,000.
You make that sound as if its a HUGE amount.. that's peanuts compared to some figures I've seen ;)

Congrats and good luck ! Now starts the journey thru credit repair and rebuilding. :D

thanks for sharing your exp.

Congrats.

I'm finding the whole BK "thing" very painful & have been struggling to avoid filing as long a possible...
Were you ever like this Flower?

Must be a relief to finally (@ least) start fresh... I'm a bit scared as my amount I seek to have discharged is close to $60k..... eeeek.

Illbback...Don't be afraid...If you need a fresh start, now is the time to do it before the law changes..

If you have any questions at all, no matter how easy or how hard they may seem always ask..The people on this board have been through so much and are very good about responding...They are wonderful.

Each person who has gone through bankruptcy has had different amounts...It all depends on your income to debt ratio...Don't worry so...Just get your thoughts together and ask away.

I did go through a period where I did not want to do the bankruptcy but sat down and went through all my bills and knew what my monthly income was, and what my obligations besides the cc bills were..I knew then that I had to declare bk..There was not enough left over...

Don't be afraid...do it....We are all here to help.

I was nervous but went ahead anyway...My lawyer helped inmensely..I used the money I would have had to pay the bills with to pay him...By that time I was already a few months behind on all of them.

Flowers... :D :D

Thank you Flowers.

Been more of a lurker here (& I have more posts than you. heh heh, guess I'm slow.). But I'm learning. I'm searching for an atty. this week (spoke to one already). This place is such a wealth of help. I'm not a deadbeat, just found myself w/o a job (kept my debts @ bay for over 3 1/2 years) & now I'm out of savings & assets. And now I find myself here... Hopefully I'll be like you & post: DISCHARGED too.

-Cheers.

Take all of the moral and ethical crap out of the equation and treat bk as a business decision. You've a responsibility to yourself and your family. When finances deteriorate, and you can't pay you just look at it as an adverserail situstion where your best interest and your creditors best interests diverge. You do what you have to do and don't worry about anybody else.
