My previous LL gave out my new address and deposit amount to an old aquantinance that we now longer associate with because of violent tendincies. He went to our old house and asked for the info and the LL just gave it to him. The LL had no idea who he was. This person showed up at my new house yelling and screaming at my husband and I. What recourse do I have??

Wow, there are lots of options. The first few that come to mind are:

- Don't answer the door.
- Call the police.
- Buy a shotgun.
- Buy a guard dog.
- Move.
- Learn tae-kwon-do.
- Invest in a Bowflex Home Gym and a strict diet regimen.
- Cry about it in the shower.

(Of course, if you thought you were going to hit the Lawsuit Lottery by suing your former landlord, you might want to come up with some alternative plans.)

Re: Personal Info...

Mr. "You are Guilty", you sure are in a bad mood today. I wan't looking to win the "lawsuit lottery" as you put it, however, here in California there are laws against disclosing such information (see CA CIVIL CODE SECTION 1786.50-1786.60 ) and I was just looking for someone who might know a thing or two. Not a smart ass who's having a bad day and needs to take it out on someone they don't know or can't see because you're too weak to stand up to the person who is actually causing your bad mood.

I hope you have a better day sweetie!! :)

You're joking, right? You may want to actually read 1786 et. seq., but then again, you clearly know the answer to your own question already and were just here to test us. So you go on and sue that meanie landlord under whatever section of the code you like, and please be sure to post back here with the result of the case (and the docket number - we like to check the court's files to make sure our advice was correct).

Good luck with your lawsuit.

PS: If all you wanted was someone who knows "a thing or two", you sure came to the right place. I know one thing for sure - only one of us is a lawyer. Can you guess who? Here's your one hint: it isn't you.
