I recently purchased a home in Las Vegas. Before purchasing the home I found on our states' web site the history of the property and found out that the owners father originally owned 14 acres before it became a one acre property. It did not list if the father still owned the other acres surronding this property. We thought it was kind of peculiar that the sellers wanted to sell quick so we inquired with them as to why they were selling. We were told that because there were no more family living next door. apparently the father lived on the left and her sister on the right and she was the only one left so they decided to move. Also, there is new construction across the street and we asked if this is a reason for leaving and they said yes. The new construction did not bother us as it would probably raise the property value. We closed on the property and started to upgrade the property. It has been 2 1/2 months and we are finally getting to meet our neighbors who did not hesitate to offer us some information on the previous owners. We were told the sellers wanted to sell because an elementary school is proposed and is in escrow to be built 15 feet beyond my property line and that they knew about the school because they were the ones making the deal with the school district. I know this may increase the property value, however, I was planning on living here for the rest of my life and I would not have purchased this home if I knew about the school. Is there any way I can stop the school from being built? Is there any kind of recourse? What about the upgrades I've made?

You can't stop the school from being built but you can sue the Seller for non-disclosure of a material fact.
