What is the name of your state?I reside in new york city and work in new jersey. I stopped paying discover because of my situation and it was turned over to a collection agency. A judgement was put through and I received a execution of income in the mail from an NYC marshall. I am able to make some reasonable payments now for the 9000 I owe but I am not sure what steps I should take to pay this off and I don't want to pay a quarter of my salary a month like they are asking. I want to avoid this going to my employer for garnishment. Can they garnish across state lines? Can I still contact Discover?

They can garnish your wages. If you want to negotiate, you will have to do so with the attorney who sued you. Discover is nasty and if you can't pay at least what they'd get with garnishment, they likely won't agree.
