Was a missionary for several years, moved back to the states and got a good job with a big corporation, worked for them for 7 years and then an oportunity came along to work for the school where my daughter was to attend 6th grade. Interviewed, they offered me the job for a lot less $ I was making at the present time, but I took it because I would be close to my child and would also be able to help the chooolwith the Spanish speaking fast growing population. As I began to inquire about my job and my duties my principal (I was to be her secretary)repremended me for asking questions, taking initiative, placing a few nick nacks in my office to personalize it (made me put it all down)started to demand things from me that I was not discuss when interviewed (like delivering mail on my vehicle 14 miles total every day) while all the other secretaries from the other school did not have to do this, they where very close to the mail. Every oportunity she (the principal) has makes my life misserable, like our nurse was out all but 1 1/2 months of the school year and because I was her back up I had to serve as nurse, I also back up the receptionist, a lot of times I felt the pressure of being three employees in one. In the mean time
my job as secretary was folling behind, but I was expected to do my job none the less. Then thy added one more thing to my already plate...Translation of school distric rules and regulation (very legalistic language)It takes time to translate, consentration a quietness...thats the least I have working for this school. They make me feel like I am not doing my job, and I have a got feeling that on May 30, the last day of school and my review will be given, I will not be recomended for next year. (to tell you the truth, it would problably be the best thing for me, but I know that it won' be for them) in any case, I have felt abused, used, and most of all discrimanated. I am a hard, honest worker and just wanted to do my job well. (I forgot to mentioned that I am from Guatemala (Latin American)went to school in Boston, and have found that here in this little town of the South, discrimanation is thicker than mud. Please give me some advise on how to handle my review on May 30.
P.S. A really nice New principal is coming on board...but will my other principal recomend me?that's the question.
If you asked me If I like my job I would say YES, just let me do it.
Thank you for your attention on this matter...Please respond.
