I orignally tried to post this yesterday but the forums were down when I submitted it.

I had my unlicenced truck tagged yesterday for not having it tarped properly. The tarp thats on it was covering all but the bottom of the frame. I went outside to ask the person who tagged it why it had been tagged and my dog got loose. She then threatened to cite me for not having my dog on leash. I explained to her that the dog had escaped and I had not intentionally let her out and ask why she had tagged my truck. She very snidely said that it was unproperly tarped and that it would be towed in 30 days unless remedied.
After she left and I had caught my dog I was very upset so I called city hall to get more detailed information on why my tarped truck was improperly tarped and what I needed to do to fix it. When the guy pick up I was upset and was talking loud but not aggressivly. I asked why my tarped truck was improperly and the guy said please hold and handed me off to another guy. As he did so he mimic what I had said in a whiney schoolyard teasing type voice to the other guy. The second guy was very proffessional and explained why my truck was tagged and told me that the city was enforcing the tarp laws more aggressively. When my wife arrived home I told her about what had happened and she was very angry and called one of her friends husbands that worked in that city department. He told her that they had been told to tag all cars that were not tarped properly or at all that were next to trailers and run down homes in our city. My wife told him about how the lady was rude to me and he told her that the had recieved over 150 complaints about her that day. She had untarped all cars that were not properly tarped to put the tags on the windows and was very rude when people went out to find out why. When my wife told me this I stuck me as odd so I asked her to drive around the nieghborhood and see what was tagged and sure enough the only houses that belonged to poor people in the nieghborhood were tagged. Houses that were nice and belonged to middle class that had untarped exspired tag cars, trailers and boats were not. Could this be concidered discrimation against the poor since they mainly focused on low income homes while passing middle class and upper class homes? I own the trailer i'm at and am buying a 2 story house in the same town. The way the lady talked to me and the way the 1st guy on the phone mocked me really question why I want to live in this community. She acted like I was scum of the earth. If these people were elected into thier jobs it really troubles me on how this reflects the mentality of the people in this area.
