i own a small company in md. i have a hardworking employee who can not afford the family portion of their health insurance. i would like to pay more of the insurance for this employee without increasing the companies contribution for the other employee's who have family coverage. i have been told that it is discriminatory to pay different amounts on health insurance for each employee.

This may be one circumstance in which the Nike slogan --"Just Do It" -- makes sense. Unless it is done on the basis of race, color, creed, etc. I can't see any big deal -- but this is a labor law issue and that's not my field.
