What is the name of your state? new jersey

I received letter from attorney representing credit card debt, stating "attempt to collect a debt". The amount they show is several hundred more than what are shown on creditor statements.
It is beyond the 30 days to validate. Should I still be able to dispute this amount ? I plan to file bankruptcy because of other debts. Should I still ask for verification or validation ?
Thanks for responses.

You can demand validation at any time, so go ahead if you want to stall them until you file for bk. Just don't mention the bk filing or they may rush to sue you. There are several good validation demand letters over at www.creditinfocenter.com. Send them certified, rrr and keep ALL records.
