What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Tennessee

At least 15 years ago, I started using Russell's Pest Control for termite control in my property. I don't remember if I did sign a contract with them, since it was so long ago. Anyway, they installed Sentricon stations around my house and they came to inspect the stations monthly. After a few years, it became quarterly. And then after several years it became once a year. During all these years, they never came to me and redid the contract. Everything was done verbally. Finally this year I decide I don't want to use them anymore. When they called to schedule a date to come to do the inspection, I didn't answer nor return their calls. I thought they would just go away and leave me alone. Maybe the technician did come to my house but no one was home. In the past, the technician had to inspect both the inside and outside of the house before I paid them. I thought since they didn't fully complete the inspection, I shouldn't pay them. But apparently they thought otherwise. Now since February they have been bugging me about I owe them money. 3 weeks ago, I received a letter from a collection agency saying that I owe Russell money. What should I do?
