This is the first time that I have ever done this. I have a real problem and I am wondering if there is any legal way to correct it.

My husband and I have put our house up for sale (Queens, NY) about two months ago and we were receiving many interested buyers for our home.

After about two weeks our neighbors that are not well liked within the neighborhood, were seen writing the number of our realtors (we have a sign outside our home), calling them, and putting their house for sale at the same time we were selling our home. OUr home is located only two houses away, on the same block, and because of this our opportunity to sell our home has declined. One week after all of this had happened, they sold their home and my home is still on the market.

My husband confronted our neighbors before they sold their home and asked them why they were taking our business away from us and their reply was "We were trying to sell our house first" and some vulger words were said.

Our neighbors tried to stir up some issues at the realtors office falsely accusing myself and my husband of taking their business away.

As of today, we have been unable to sell our home. We are relocating to Orange County and happily we have successfully found a new home, but our closing date is on June 29 and our current home has not yet been sold. We cannot afford two mortgages and we very much would like to move to Orange County closer to our family without grief.

At this point, we are running out of options and we would very much appreciate any advice we can receive.

My response:

I don't see anything in your post that would give you a "cause of action" against anyone - - your neighbor or the realtor.

Your neighbor has every right to sell his home, either through the same realtor or another realtor. Neighborhood blocks typically have more than one house for sale, and it's first come, first served. Perhaps your neighbor's home is more pleasing; e.g., in better condition - - or, perhaps, his price was better than yours.

Unless there's something more about this that you haven't mentioned, then you've got nothing.
