i have been married for three years. I have a two year old son. I think my husband is fooling around with another woman and thinking about divorce. i stay at home with my little boy and dont work. he provides for us he made 165,000.00 last year. i have not signed and prenuptial agreement or anything. am i entitled for child support and alimony. he keeps telling me that he will fight me for our little boy and i will not get custody because i cannot support him. i worked before i met him and he has his own business and i worked for my husband. please help i do not know what to do. thank you diana

Hi my husband is verbally abusive on top of all other things that are wrong with ourrelationship, it's time for me to get a divorce...He makes 40,000/yr I make 15,000/yr.We've been married for 3 years and have a 2 1/2 yr old son. I seek the advice of two different lawyers..Here in CT I am entitled for alimony for at least the half the time we're married if not the whole 3 yrs plus child support for our son until he turns eighteen..My husband says if this happens he'll fight for sole custody of our son and I'll pay for child support..lawyer says because I am a good mother ( And I am and all sense of the word) and I spend more of the time with our son...sole custody for the father will not happen. Also If a wife could prove that she is financially dependent on husband, court will allow time for the wife to get back on her feet while the husband pays for alimony and money is not the basis for child custody...many factors are involve..ultimately whatever is the best interest for the child..don't give up. Now this are CT lawyers I don't know Illinois law..But I thought I'd share mione with you since we're kinda' in the same boat. Good luck!
