My name is Rob. I've recently filed for divorce. We've been legally separated for over 2 years. My ex wife is saying that she can't afford a lawyer. I have 2 questions- 1) can this prevent the divorce from moving forward. 2) can I be forced to pay her attorney bills? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

1) It can - depends on whether the judge will allow a continuance in order for Mom to obtain counsel.

2) It's possible. But generally, each party is responsible for their own legal fees.
