This is according to Indiana law, so this is a response the would apply if you lived in the Hoosier state:
You can change your name to anything you please, even Baldoffershagnasty.
If you state it in the decree, that your name is changed to xxxxxxx, that is sufficient.
If it's too late for that (i.e. the divorce has already been granted), then you can petition the court for a name change. Has nothing to do with the divorce, and there's a separate filing fee for that.
A name change is a relatively simple proposition, and you can do that pro se (yourself).
Do a little research at your local library to get an idea of what format that should take.
