divorce or annulment

I was married in December 1998 in NC, after returning to SC I discovered my husband was not divorced from previous wife, he went to court for that divorce Jan. 4 1999. We have recently seperated, do I seek a divorce or a annulment? Was our marriage legal, was his divorce legal since he had already married me? I would prefer the quickest easiest and cheepest way out! There are no children and no property.

Your marriage was not legal. Therefore, it doesn't exist except if someone wants to go after your "husband" for bigamy! (Something to keep in mind if he 'bothers' you.)

Well, it does kind of exist. Ie, she can not just walk away. She needs to get it anulled.
