What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CT

I've been told that only difference between a divorce and a legal separation is:

1. You are still legally married
2. You *might* be able to continue company-supplied health insurance on the non-insured spouse if the company has the policy rule.
3. The spouse may be eligible for things like social security benefits.

All other things like splitting of assets, custody, are the same.

Are there any other differences (except emotional and religious reasons) ?

Those are the major ones. Is there some particular thing you're concerned about?
