My brother has talked to his minister in the past as to the amount of physical and mental abuse he has taken from his wife. He has also talked to many others as well. Can any of us including her first husband be called as a witness to verify what had been said, and would it do any good? ia

My response:

Witnesses aren't needed for anything. There are no more "divorce trials" where a divorcing party would be required to prove grounds for a divorce, such as "mental abuse".

Iowa only permits irreconcilable differences type "no fault" divorces. It is a separate property state. The residency requirement is one year.
