Divorce

I was living in Va. with my husband and now I am in Ohio at my daughters. My husband told me to leave and come be with my family. I have talked to him a few times and the last time I talked to him he told me that he didnt love me and that he was going to file for divorce. Should I get a lawyer now or wait until I receive papers?

You should consult an attorney to try to regain your house. If it is in your name also, he just cannot kick you out. There may be a residency requirement to file in Ohio. If you file for divorce in Ohio, where you live, he would have to travel there in his defense in a divorce case.Or..you may have to go to VA in your defense if he files. The one filing first is the plaintiff bringing action and if it is you then you need to show cause for divorce.

Thank you but we do not own our house we rent from his friend. I still have to go back and get my stuff.

You should go back and get your things. I would leve him and try and start a new life. If you do not have any significant assets just leave him as long as you have your kids what else really marries. Sounds like he is a jerk. I have been through stuff like this.

We have no kids. We bought a car for me and he wants me to pay half. I have to take medicine that I wont be able to afford if he takes me off of his ins. at work. Will he have to pay me alimony? He makes real good money. He has alot of assets but he had them before we met I do not want all that I just want him to pay for my car keep me on his ins. and alimony till I find work here.

Tell me a little more, about how old are you? About what percent of your assets are jointly held and how long married again? I can talk a little while here.

I am 45 and we have no assets together. His family made sure that their names were on every thing that my hub has. I called him and told him that I wanted to come home and work it out and he said that he did not want me there and he did not love me any more.I do not want a divorce but he does. I still love him and wish that we could fix our prob. A very long story. He will not talk to me bout stuff and never would. That was alot of our probs. I really thank you for replying to my prob.
