My wife and I seperated in 1996,after only 10 months of marriage, we had differences that could not be solved and agreed to go our seprate ways. I have not seen her since 1997. But we never went to court and got divorced. I have heard that she has re-married. I need to know how to find out if she got a divorce with out me knowing. Or if perhaps we are divorced automatticly because we have been seperated for so long. I know the state I am living in now (pennsylvania)had laws like that, but we were married in maryland. Which state do I go by? And how do I find out if we may already be divorced?

If you haven't seen her since 1997, and you don't know where she is residing, you may never know if she got a divorce.

Since that is the case, you need to file for a divorce yourself. You would file in Pennsylvania. Divorce is NEVER automatic - - no matter how many years you spend apart from each other. Only a court can dissolve a marriage - - not time.
