Husband ownes copyrights by way of inheritance. Married thirty three years. Lived off income from copyrights for over twenty years. No other income stream. No pre-marital agreement. What percentage is wife entitled to? Husband wants divorce. Wife was active participant in family meetings, entertainment, and representation. State-CT.

My response:

First, you are not entitled to any part of the inheritance itself. However, you are entitled to 50% of the "income" that the inheritance produces.

If the production of income requires your continued work to make the inheritance produce, then depending upon your marital settlement agreement, you could either take a one-time lump sum payment (if your husband doesn't want you to work on the project), or continue to work to make the inheritance produce so that you can continue to obtain your 50% share.

Good luck to you.
