my husband left in july 2000, he filed for divorce in october 2000, now that he knows the finacial situation that he will have to face he has done nothing to continue the process, i want the divorce as soon as possible, is there something i can do to move the process along and finalize the divorce

Yes, either you or your attorney can petition the court to set a final hearing date.

Then the court will set the final hearing date.

If he wants to come up with a settlement agreement and avoid a final hearing, then he will have to do that.

Otherwise, the court will grant the dissolution at the hearing and outline the terms of the decree -- who pays what, who owns what, who gets the kids, etc.
