i live in new york. my husband and i have been in contact with lawyers about separation since may 2000. in july 2000 i moved into an apartment. by december 2000 the separation was finally agreed upon. my question is can i file on july 2001 for a divorce since that is when i legally abandoned my residence. or do i have to wait until dec since that is when the official documentation was signed.
