I was married in north carolina, in 1989. For reasons too lengthy to discuss, I left our home in 1997. Prior to leaving, all bills were paid by me.

My question is how do I find out if my wife/ex-wife has ever filed for divorce. She has since left North Carolina, and resides in Virginia ( I think).

I am considering remarrying and don't know how to proceed.

Thanks,

My response:

You get a divorce where you live, and don't worry about your ex, and what she may have done, or not done. All you need to be concerned with is that you get that piece of paper in your hand that says, "Divorce Decree". That's it. Period.

Then, you move on with your life - - and should she ever make contact with you in the future, give her a copy.

thanks for your response..however i still would like to know how and where i would check to see if SHE has already completed the divorce process. This would save me time and $$$ if she already has divorced me. If i'm missing something obvious...let me know.

thanks
