I left my husband in January of 2000. We lived in Massachusetts. When I left, I moved to New Mexico. My husband filed for divorce in August of 2000. The only compensation I will be getting will be my half of the house, as I signed off on everything else. Because it was pretty straightforward, I did not retain an attorney. I signed the divorce papers, but it is being held up by the judge because he wants a value on my pension (not a 401k, IRA,KEOUGH,etc.) It is just a monthly benefit I receive. I cannot withdraw from it, nor can I leave it to anyone.
My husband has quite a sum in his 401K (which I signed off).
We have been married for 40 years. Do you think it is possible that the judge is looking at this inequity and needs the value of my pension to see whether it balances out? Do you think it's possible that he will award me more money even though I signed off on everything?
