Divorce

I live in North Carolina. I asked my husband for a divorce on June 17th, 2000. He did not leave the residence until Dec. 1, 2000. However we did not have relations for the entire time he remained in the home. Do I have to wait until Dec 1, 2001 to get a divorce?
