Divorce was handled by military in Yuma Arizona (very basic decree). I am entitled to a portion of my former husband's military retirement (15%) if he retires from the Navy. There is no mention anywhere in the decree of any stipulations. My question is this: If I remarry, am I still entitled to this benefit (again there is nothing in writing indicating otherwise).

Thank you!

No. It is not in your divorce papers, rather it is part of the same code that grants you that entitlement in the first place.

Divorce Question

Thanks so much for responding. I guess I am somewhat confused for two reasons: 1. Again, there is nothing stipulating in the divorce paperwork that remarriage would "nullify" the entitlement.

2. I thought that this entitlement was based on my years married to him while he was in the military, and that I would receive the entitlement regardess of my marital status later in life. It's not that this question will change any of my future decisions, it's just one that has been unanswered.

Again, I appreciate your assistance and if it would not be to much to ask, are you a military lawyer or?

Thanks!
