What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

Hi, I just graduated from a city college in new york(dec09). I majored in Accountancy and the curriculum is set up so that you take all the classes you need in order to take the CPA. Accounting 5400 is one class that you need to take in order to qualify for the CPA. For some reason, in my two last semesters(summer09, fall09) the course was taken out and students were assured that either of the 2 replacement courses Accounting 4361 and 4360 would be able to replace the 5400 in order to qualify for the CPA. Now that the semester ended, they realized that 4361 and 4360 do not count towards your cpa so I have to go back to my college(after i have graduated) and retake 5400 which they now made available again. I have a friend that works in the registrar and was in advisement also who would be willing to testify that they did say the 4361 or 4360 would be sufficient to replace the 5400. I'm sure they have realized their mistake as they completely removed 4361 and 4360 from the summer and fall of 2010 course lists .Do I have a case to sue? and for what can i sue for? Thanks

I think you have a decent case for asking them to let you take that class for free. Beyond that, nothing.

How did you graduate without the class?

Was it in your degree plan?

Did you have a signed course plan, or anything like that?

Did you take 4361 and 4360 and pass both?

Who is saying you can't take the CPA exam? The state or the school?
