What is the name of your state?
New Hampshire

I am a retina surgeon in a general Ophthalmology group practice 1 year out of training who is performing some state of the art procedures probably 25% of Retina docs perform these procedures. The other Ophthalmology group in town has been telling several other physicians that I am dangerous. My partnership agreement is coming up. Right now I am an employee of the practice. The general ophthalmologists in my group are talking about holding off on partnership until this gets settled with the other group. My question is -- if I am not offered partnership, do I have a case of slander against this other group?

My response:

What is your "proof" that anyone has been saying anything? Do you have first hand knowledge of the remarks, or are you hearing it from other people?

Is there any truth to the remarks; e.g., botched surgeries?

In addition to IAAL's correct response, it also would be important to know EXACTLY what is said, to whom and in what context.
For example, if I were to say "In my opinion, 'redslimfox' is dangerous", that is NOT defamation.

NH...like other states such as CA...render such legal opinion based on 'fault'
