What is the name of your state? Iowa

My girlfriend's ex-boyfriend/father of her two children, decided to file child molestation charges again me. He has consistently tried to start things with us everytime he has his children every other weekend. He always waits until the day he is to return the children to try and start something.

He called her on Friday July 22 and basically said that because his 3 year old daughter urinated in her pants at his house 2 hours after she was dropped off that that someone was doing something to his daughter. He then waited until 3 hours before he was to return his daughter and son to call my girlfriend and inform her he was taking his daughter to the hospital. He is what you refer to as a pathological liar. He told my girlfriend that if she didn't come get the kids by the time he got home he was taking his daughter to the hospital. We got there in 10 minutes as fast as we could but he was of course already gone well before he called her.

We had no idea where he had taken his daughter to at all. To make a long story short an investigation was launched against me for molesting a 3 year old girl. The case worker said pretty much from day one that she thought he was doing this to try and get back at his girlfriend for dumping him years ago. As I stated he's tried scare tactics with other boyfriends in the past but none of those boyfriends were as serious as I am with her. We are now living together and plan on marriage in the immediate future. Once he found this out the scare tactics turned into serious accusations as child molestation.

I know I've rambled a bit but my whole question is what ramifications do I have to file a civil lawsuit against this man for libel/slander? Getting a lawyer won't be an issue if the need arises. Thankfully we had a great case worker who knew how to see through this guy's BS and I met with her last Friday after having to spend a week at my girlfriend's grandmother's house in the basement while the investigation took place. This past Friday July 29 the little girl was examined and nothing was found and we are just waiting for an "expert" to view the photos and check off that things are fine. I am back with the girlfriend after talking with the caseworker on Friday.

Thanks again in advance for any advice, information.

I read about 7 words and then gave up. Try making your question a little more readable... you know, paragraphs and whatnot.

Yeah I realized that. Sorry. I was typing that in a hurry and a little upset but I've edited it.

An UPDATE to the post. The case has now been closed but I still am posing the original question of whether I have a case or not. Thanks again in advance.

No...........

no, you don't.

Complaints to appropriate officials cannot be prosecuted as libel or slander. If you can prove a pattern of false complaints, you might make a case for harassment.

Had an arrest resulted from a complaint later determined to be false and malicious the complainant would be guilt of a crime with serious consequences. A letter from your attorney outlining this could serve as a deterrent against further false charges
