I was wondering if I have a case against a fellow employee in regards to slander and defamation of character. This employee has been filing false charges against me at work. We are both RN's. They are "workplace violence, creating an unharmonious workplace, resident abuse and altering a medical record". These have all occurred with the last 16 months when I started on her unit. All of these charges have been investigated by our union and internal investigators and are unfounded. The last charge of altering a medical record was so far from a valid charge it isn't even funny and as soon as the investigator examined the document she closed the case. THis person has brought charges against the last 6 supervisors on this unit. I am new to the unit as of 18 months ago. Administration is dealing with her the best they can, and she knows how to work the system with the union protecting her. She has gotten various individuals to side with her, as she can be very intimidating. Management above is totally supportive of me along with some peers who know me and what the cases have been. I plan to file harassement and creating a hostile work environment charges against her. We have been through mediation (with no changes on her part) and I have hoped this would all blow over, but she is making me a nervous wreck and I have suffered some physical ailments because of all the stress. I am having a difficult time doing me job at work because of this employee. I have been an active, employed RN for 28 years and have never had 1 charge filed against me, nor have I ever had such difficulty with either management or peers. Should I see what resolution comes of my charges? Or would I have a civil suit case? Thank you
