I am a college student and i live in a dorm/appt with 3 other girls. One of the girls doesn't like to go out and do anything (going out to eat) with us. I came back from going home for the weekend to find that she had moved out completely. We had no idea she was planning on moving or that she had any problems. The next day my roommates and I get called down to the building administrator and he tells us that, the roommate who moved out, wants to press harrassment charges against us. We were stunned we never did anything to her, we were friendly towards her. A couple days later the college police call us at our appt to tell us that she had also pressed criminal charges against us with the police for harrassment. Apparently you can do both. Someone called my roommate and told her to go to this site online. When we go there it is the girl who moved out's web page and it has things written about us all over. She was calling us names and saying that we go out every night and get "smashed and hook up with guys", which isn't true at all. After we state out case with the police officer and show him what we printed out from her webpage it seems as though he believes us. This girl had no evidence of anything that she was charging us with. A day or two later she removed everything about us from her page (thank god we made copies) and said she didnt' know how that stuff about us got on there. After weeks of going through hell from this girl lying about us to everyone the charges were finally dropped by the police officer because he caught her in multiple lies. The charges filed with the college (different from the school police) were also dropped. Now my roommates and I are wondering, do we have a case against her?

Not even since she posted defamatory things about us on her web page? She also told other people around campus that about us that are not true.

I doubt that any court in your state would find this defamatory.

But if you have several thousands of dollars and lots of time, hire a lawyer and go after her.

She doesn't have any money so if you do happen to win, what will you do with your judgment?
