What is the name of your state? PA
I've been dealing with a boyfriend of my sister, and I am wondering if I have anything as far as proof of defamation.
1st I have a couple emails in which he explicitly calls me a pothead, and he also goes so far as to reaffirm and say something like, yes, I am calling you a pothead. He made sure I knew that's what he was calling me. Normally I would dismiss this as his own opinion but it went further. His statement is not true.

2nd. Have you heard of facebook.com? There was a group formed on that website. This guy made a response to a comment I made which was this "...don't trust a pothead..."
There is also another email where informed me he would be telling my sister and all her friends things about me that I "...wouldn't want anyone to know..." He went ahead and did that, but he fluffed it up quite a bit and added things that were untrue. That's the problem I have.

I'm just getting sick of him and would like to at least tell him that I am considering taking legal action if he doesn't stop. In order for me to back that up I need to know if I really have a case or not.

Some help please?

Defamation suits cost thousands and thousands of dollars, even if you win. Have fun.

If you're looking for something a little more in your price range, you can try paying a lawyer to draft a cease/desist letter to your special little friend there.

Listen Pothead, when you have a real case of defamation come back. All you have here is childish name-calling.

Thanks

Thanks for the help. I'm not an attorney which is why I asked.
What exactly would be grounds for libel/slander?

You kids and your silly little "myspace" and "facebook" nonsense. Now you've hurt each others' feelings and will have to stop playing since you cannot play nicely.
;) :p :D

Misunderstanding

I consider those stupid message boards pretty lame too. The only reason I get on facebook is for the purpose of keeping in contact with friends and relative in college, and I've found some friends in high school I lost contact with.

I just have this kid claiming to call cops on my on other issues that don't exist. I just thought I'd see if its possible to pursue this. Obviously its not. I'm not worried about this guy. I've just had my email account filled with so many emails that I had to tell the network administrator to block this guy. The administrator doesn't have the power to do that. I have to have proof that he's harrassing me. I thought that like 20 emails this week would qualify, guess not. That's kind of why I was checking this site out.

Thanks
