What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

I filed a grievance with the nursing school because an unfair decision was made regarding my situation. I made a mistake in the clinical setting and the student handbook states that on my first offense, I am to receive a verbal and written warning, plus an appropriate sanction. I did not receive that and I was told I would be suspended. I filed a grievance because of that and we can to an informal resolution. Originally, it was suggested to finish out two clinicals, but the course coordinator determined two would not be enough so eight was suggested. After two, they decided I was not competent enough to continue and that I failed the course. Do I still have grounds to pursue the grievance to a formal grievance committee because I was not satisfied with the results? I did not sign anything and I did not formally withdraw my grievance.
