What is the name of your state? Oregon

I just settled a custody case in court and in my parenting plan is says that I have to pay for half the medical bills, dental, vision ect. that are not covered by insurance starting from the date our court case was settled. But the mother of my child(18months old) told me recently over the phone that she would like for me to pay for all of the previous medical bills from the pregnancy and our childs fom when he was born. Along with precriptions that he had and she had during the pregnancy. Do I have to pay for thsoe bills as well? I didn't at the time because I wanted a DNA test first before I started handing out money. The Mom told me that she will take me to small claims if I refuse to pay. Can she sue me over this? Also anotherquestion I have is in our parenting planit doesn't not say if I have to help pay for any educational institutions? Like private school an college? I know the mom in the future will opt for private school and I don't have much of a say since she has full custody and full legal custody. But do I stil have to pay half for these things as well? Thanks a bunch!

If you weren't ordered to pay those and the order says starting when the case was settled then no at this point you don't have to pay. But, that doesn't mean she cannot try to get 1/2 of those later, although not likely any of her prescriptions while pregnant. And anyone can sue anyone. If she's dead set on it let her try, the worse that can happen is you have to but it's more unlikely you would be responsible for it all.

No. If nothing is mentioned you are not responsible for such. When it comes to private schools if she attempts to take you to court to pay a portion of that she won't likely win if you disagree with the schooling and will be told that if SHE wants the child to be in the private school then she'll pay for it.

Wouldn't we all opt for private school if we could make someone ELSE pay for it?

Actually, I wouln't trade my daughter's public school for any of the other private schools in town, either. I wouldn't even consider moving anywhere outside HER current school boundaries - which keeps me in a very small geographic area- but her stablility and continuity is far more important to me than any larger yard, greater income potential elsewhere, or lower taxes (traded off for lesser schools) I could seek in another district or town.

Actually, I wouldn't. Especially when it's been pretty consistently proven that those who go to private schools don't get a better education than those who go to public.

Tell her to shove it and then learn to read. When she learns to read, tell her to take out that court order and read it. She should have thought about this BEFORE agreeing to the order.

If mom wants private school, then SHE will pay for it. If she even tries to take it to court, she'll lose. Same goes with college, unless your state statutes mandate support past 18.
