I know you can file for divorce on your own. You can file for a 102 divorce and from the date of filing, you must wait 180 days to get the final divorce. Or, if you've already lived apart for 180 days, you can get a 103 divorce immediately. I may have the numbers, 102 and 103, backward. You can go to the clerk of courts office in your parish and they can help you. If you have assets to divide, however, you would really be better off with an attorney. Your ex-husband may also have to provide you with temporary spousal support which may help with some of your attorney costs. I'm not an attorney so I can only provide you with info from my own recent experiences with my divorce. Good luck and I hope this helps.

I'm really greatful for the info. We didn't have any assetts to divide. I just need to get this over with. I will go to the clerk of courts and find out what I need to do. And thanks.
