What is the name of your state? CA
Hi,
I am a Brit, living legally in Southern California on an R1 Visa. My employer led me to understand that they would be sorting out my application for an SS number and card and that they would inform when I needed to fill out the necessary documentation. I have been here for over six months now and due to my own ability to forget and my employers also I don't yet have a SS card. Obviously this means I have yet to pay any taxes on monies earned up until now and naturally expect to pay a sum for that which I have earned already. Will the delay in applying for the number and card affect my being able to obtain one?
Also, what is an EAD? and do I require one? The SS website states that proof of permission to work from the DHS is required, but I am not sure what this is. Like I say, I have my passport, my working R1 visa inside and my birth certificate. Are these enough?
Thank you in advance
