What is the name of your state? Indiana

My son was hit in the head with a lacrosse stick by a kid in P.E. They were playing lacrosse and the kid was on a team and my son was on the other. My son's team was beating them 15-2 and from what I understand lacrosse is hard sport for these kids to pick. Well my son was on his way down the field to score and just as he did the other kid hit him with the lacrosse stick on his finger. My son proceeded to ask him why he hit him and the kid starting hitting him the head and on the back, my son never hit him back all he was doing was trying to protect his head. At the school we have a cop and he did the investigating along with assistant principal, they talked with my son and the kid that hit him plus anyone else that seen the incident. The assistant principal said the adminstrative team would have to look at everything and they would determine weather both were suspended or just the kid that hit my kid.The school only suspended the kid that hit my kid. The cop said he would have to forwarded this onto the prosucuting office and they would look at it and determine weather they want to handle it or send it on to the probation office. Well today I got a letter from the probation office stating: This department has been notified of the possible involvement of the above child in the offense(s) of Disorderly Conduct/Class B Misdemeanor. They want to see him for a preliminary investigation. So should I get a lawyer??

More than likely you wont need a lawyer unless you intend to take the other kid to civil court. If you intend on taking him to civil court for the actions on your son then you'll need a lawyer. Otherwise no.
