what we need to know is if a child is 15 almost 16,and she never knew her father, don't being her fathers fault, but her mom's and step dads,we finally found them in another state they've only lived there for 3 years, they gve permission for us to talk, now very day the step father states to her that it's not her right to talk to us,and everyday will live not knowing if they will let it continue, she's begged us to come get her,and so were filling for custody, with a lawyers help of coarse, can they stop her frm talking to us now?and if she ran away and showed up on our door step what can we do legally? she's knows we are very strick parents, and still states she wants to be with us.permenetly,we already love her as much as the children we have here, and want her to be a part of our family.
thank you for any advice you can give

Your lawyer should be answering these things for you, esp. if think 'runaway' a possibility. Be sure you have not suggested or encouraged this action in anyway. If no order in place for custody & were married, should stand 50/50 right now but, established residence favors ex. If child 'ran',lawyer should be 1st call. Feel u would have to notify ex & provide child but lawyer knows all u'r facts & best to follow. It is child's right to speak w/parent as is also parent's right. Keep a log, document all.
