If I have labwork done at my primary care phys. and they send it to a lab other than the one my insurance pays for, who is responsible for the lab bill, me or the doctors office? the amount in question is $400.00

any suggestions for a course of action that i may be able to take?

Ultimately, you. Whether you can recoup from the doctor's office or not depends on the contract with your insurance carrier. However, you are the one who'll be billed by the laboratory and the one who'll be held responsible for seeing that it is paid, whoever ends up paying it.
