My sister's ex-boyfriend ran up a $2,000 cell phone bill on a phone she got for him (it was in her name but he agreed to pay the bills). He did not pay the bill, and she sued him and won; the court ruled him liable for the charges. However, a collection agency is now harassassing her over the debt (he never paid, even after the judgement against him).
Does the legal judgement transfer the debt to him (meaning the collection agency should pester him about it instead of her), or does it simply mean that she still owes the cell phone company and the ex-boyfriend owes her?
