We live in texas. My husbands daughter lives somewhere close to Las Vegas, NV. Is it true he has no rights to his daughter until we hire a lawyer in Nevada? Child is now 4, husband is paying CS through dept. of human services. he has never seen the child (but has always acknowleged her)Mom has only contacted him 1 time(that was last year). My husband has no address or phone number to his child. Just had his name added to birth cert. per court order.

Yes he has rights but you better establish them now. You need to at least get visitation set up. I don't know how the custody thing would go since you guys live so far away. You probably need to file where the child lives. You may be able to do this through your courts, you should ask. Right now it's really hard to get anything done because nothing is set up. If you hire a lawyer (and I strongly suggest you should if you have the money) he should be able to find out where the child is located. You can also call the sherriff's dept or police and tell them that you need to find your child. I don't know if they will help or not. Did they do a paternity test, well I assume if he is paying CS through CSE then they ordered one. If you can't get a lawyer you should see if there is legal aid in your area or call the bar association for a referral to try and get a consultation with a lawyer. Last options would be to contact a magistrate, DA or Attorney General for advice. Also getting a lawyer in NV is very wise.
