My husband has been left sterile due to testicular cancer. Before his surgery, we were able to preserve a small amount of his sperm but the only viable use is invetro-fertilization because the sperm count was low (also due to the cancer). Our health insurance, Aetna PPO, says that fertilization problems are not covered in our policy. Do they have any obligation to cover fertility expenses since the infertility was caused by the cancer while on the on the insurance plan? We are still on the plan. We have medical documentation that the cancer caused the low sperm count and then the sterility. By the way, my husband is now fully recovered from cancer. We are in Texas. Thanks.
